"KMFDM IS DEAD" - 01/22/99

  • That is the only statement made this morning by Sascha Konietzko, founder and mastermind of the world's foremost underground industrial rock band, KMFDM.

In a brief statement, the Seattle-based artist would not offer any reason or explanation for the announcement, except to say, "We have also issued a media black out until March 1st."

This date would have marked KMFDM's 15th Anniversary.

KMFDM have released nine albums, which collectively sold over a million copies in the U.S. alone. The release date of KMFDM's last album, appropriately titled ADIOS is pending as the recording deal with their former label Wax Trax Records has recently come to an end.

Konietzko denied all rumors and speculations regarding the future of KMFDM.
