This is the best album by Dance Or Die yet in my opinion. Their trademark sound of dark dramatic electronic music complimented by guitar and deep clear accented male vocals is presented here better then ever.

Dance Or Die is known for including a lot of variety on their albums, and this Schlafende energie recording is no exception. Every song here sounds diverse, but all stick to a similar style throughout.

The songs are created with the energetic electronic programming and beats of electro-industrial, the dark melodies of gothic, the guitars of rock, and a deep toned male vocalist that sings with a lot of variety and range.

What I like so much about Dance Or Die is that they have their own unique sound that can't really be compared to any other band. They blend so many different genres together that they are able appeal to a large listening audience. Fans of industrial, gothic and rock music will all find something to like about this CD.

This band definitely knows the meaning of variety. Track one "Dehumanizer" begins with dark sci-fi electronics and then explodes into high energy packed techno rhythms and beats combined with deep male shouting vocals. Track two "Teenagemakeup" is an upbeat song with beautiful synth melodies combined with clean well sung vocals and a catchy chorus. Track three "Relationshit" is a straight forward fast paced and aggressive dark electro-industrial song with distorted growling vocals. It's a bit repetitive and generic, but still good enough to enjoy. Track four "Fruhstuck Im Freien" is a short dark ambient instrumental that is quite interesting with a lot of mood. Track five "Liquid Sky" is an electro-pop song with energetic electronic rhythms and beats combined with high pitched spoken word type vocals. Track six "Crap" is a beat heavy electro-industrial song featuring fast paced rough vocals and a melodic chorus. Track seven "Building Another Babylon" is a mellow soothing song with beautiful harmonies and dreary vocals. Track eight "Space Elevator" is a cold dark ambient instrumental with a variety of experimental electro sounds, samples and synth melodies. Track nine "Give Me Back The World" is an energetic song with fast paced rhythms and beats, deep male vocals and a shouting chorus. Track ten "Replicant" is a heavy industrial song with driving beats, electro noise and powerful vocals. Track eleven "42" is a beautiful sci-fi ambient instrumental with a woman talking over the music. Track twelve "Partly Human" has a lengthy dark electro intro. Deep male vocals come in toward the middle of the song and remain until it's done. Track thirteen "In Your Room" is a catchy electro song with acoustic guitar and sci-fi effects combined with passionate singing. It's a great way to end this outstanding CD. If you're looking for a great industrial album with a lot of variety and quality music and vocals, this Dance or Die CD is definitely something that you should consider.

This German duo create some very powerful and dramatic industrial songs. The music is created with multi-layered electronic sounds, orchestrated synth melodies, drum programming and very deep clean accented male vocals. The songs are bit structured leaning toward commercial industrial. They are well produced and tight. Some tracks are more energetic than others. There are a few that could work on the dance floor, while others are more slow and melodic with a lot of mood. Everything manages to have its own edge, but still stay consistant with the overall feel of the album. Since this album was recorded back in 1995 it does have an older feel to it when compared to what is currently coming out of the industrial music scene these days. There are three instrumentals here. Two are used as intro and ending pieces while one is placed more toward the middle of the album. The other nine songs do include the same deep sung vocals. The only song here that I dislike is "Sativa". It's very slow and sounds like it has carnival music in it. It's out of place on the album. Everything else is good, but nothing really stands out. There just isn't a lot to get excited about here. It's quality music for the most part, but just doesn't have a very original or unique sound to it. A lot of the music here is rather dark coming off as almost gothic. I feel that a couple of the tracks do sound a lot like Sisters Of Mercy. The overall album has kind of an 80's feel to it, so it does sound a bit dated. But this is a good album if you like clean and structured industrial music with a lot of attention to vocals.
