This could be considered a KMFDM side project. This band is headed by KMFDM's Sascha Konietzko with several guest musicians joining in on the fun. The music presented here is basically a more electronic version of the newer KMFDM sound. Female vocals are used more than male vocals on most of the tracks, but there are a few tracks that are male dominant and some that blend both male and female vocals together. Several songs sound exactly like KMFDM, while others have their own vibe. There are straight forward and structured guitar thrashy songs that just rock, and there are pure electronic and synth instrumental style songs that blend more samples than vocals. Each song here is energetic and somewhat heavy for the most part. They could all work on the dance floor. Every song does sound different and manage to offer their own unique elements that allow them to stand out. However, some do get a bit repetitive without a lot of variety or experimentation. They are still good, but tend to be a little more basic not making them very memorable. The bottom line is that if you like KMFDM, you will like Excessive Force as well.
