Album: "Calling
Dr. Luv" (1996) |

Reviewed by: Darklight This album sounds a lot different and a lot better than The Electric Hellfire Club's previous album "Kiss The Goat". This album is a lot less dark and haunting. It's more futuristic techno sounding with upbeat electronic rhythms and beats combined with harmonic synths. It's just more energetic and alive. The recording quality is much better as well. Also, the music sometimes has a 70's retro funk flavor to it that blends with the new style quite good. The singing is less distorted, and sings with a little more variety. Female vocals are added in the background a lot as well. This is a nice touch. There are no slow or boring songs here. Everything could work well on the dance floor. There is a lot less filler crap here, too. There are a couple of instrumentals, but that's about it. There is a cool industrial cover of Kiss' "Calling Dr. Love" included here that I like a lot. The album is very tight and polished. There is still a campy feel to this band, but at least they are a little more up front with it this time. That makes it more acceptable in my opinion.

Album: "Kiss The
Goat" (1995) |

Reviewed by: Darklight This is a very dark and evil band with a slight touch of campiness and humor. Most of the songs found here have catchy electronic rhythms and beats combined with haunting synths. The singing is slightly distorted and growls over the music. There is even sampled guitar to give the music a heavier and thrashier edge. Most of the songs here are energetic and could work on the dance floor. But there are some more moody songs as well that are darker and medium paced that couldn't really work on the dance floor. Although there are quite a few good songs here, there is a lot of filler crap as well. It gets a little messy at times with all of the different things scattered throughout the album. Also, a lot of the songs sound very similar to each other. There is not really a lot of variety and difference from one song to the other. Plus, the campy satanic theme wears a little thin after a while. But this is not a bad electro industrial album for the most part.
