This CD is a collection of past material performed by Gitane Demone. The music presented here is dark, haunting and beautifully orchestrated. It's created with  acoustic/electric guitars, bass, drums and keyboards. The music is overlayed by Gitane Demone's entrancing singing. The entire CD is very clean and well produced. There's a lot of drama and emotion presented here. Some tracks are dark, slow and dreary. Others are more enchanting, soft and uplifting. There are even some heavier rock/jazz styles to be found here. There's a lot of variety delivered. If you're a fan of classic goth music with some goth rock/punk elements, you will most likely enjoy what this CD has to offer you.

Gitane Demone is best known for her work with Christian Death. This solo offering displays a lot of variety and range that this talented individual holds within her. She is not content with delivering the standard cookie cutter idea of what gothic music is. Actually, it's not really quite right to label anything given on this album considering that it all blends a mixture of different musical styles. But it tends to lean more toward a dark beauty that gothic music is. The first track "Angel In My Head" has an acoustic western guitar vibe throughout while Gitane sings with powerful passion. The music is a bit funky and the song is short, but it's still a decent opener. However, in my opinion the album really begins on the second track "Living In Velvet". This track has a dark and cold beauty that almost seems depressing as piano and keyboard melodies are played behind Gitane's emotional vocals. Song three "Am I Wrong" has a more upbeat piano feel with a playful sound. There's a bit of a funky delivery here instead of a dark one. Song four "On The Beach" has a classical vibe with piano combined with slight electronic sounds hidden behind Gitane's soothing singing. It's a softer more relaxing track. Song five "Ball Of Love" is a bit more energetic created with deep bass, tribal drum beats, piano and keyboard. Gitane sings in a Blondie style on this track in turn giving this song the feel of a classic Blondie song. It has great melody and is a very enjoyable track. Song six "Lose This Gravity" is one of my favorite tracks here. It mixes funky rhythms and beats with retro keyboard melodies and excellent singing that has such style to it that you get lost in it instantly. This is one of the more upbeat tracks here and that is what helps it stand out. Song seven "Despairiosity" is one of the colder and darker tracks here with haunting piano and heavy drum beats combined with Gitane's gothic vocal delivery. It's very emotional and does have energy to it. Song eight "My Classic Ego" is a rock song with guitars, bass and drums. Gitane sings in a more harsh straight forward style with a touch of anger and force. It's a good change of pace for the album considering that it mixes things up a bit with more of a heavy rock edge. Song nine "Speed" is another straight forward rock song with a name that fits it well because it's fast paced and full of energy. But it's also a bit too structured without including enough variety to allow it to really stand out. Song ten "Obituaire" slows things down a bit with piano, retro keyboard melodies, heavy drum beats while Gitane sings funky in an almost blues/jazz style. This album does have a lot of variety on it and everything is well done. But certain tracks just seem to stand out a lot more than others. In depends on your taste in music what tracks you will feel stand out. The bottom line is that if you're looking for something slightly different with female vocals, this is definitely it.
