Album: "Prince
Of Darkness" (1996) |

Reviewed by: Darklight Nosferatu's previous album "The Prophecy" was simply amazing. It was very powerful and emotional goth rock music. It would almost seem impossible to bring out a follow up album to such a great piece of work. And after listening to "Prince Of Darkness", my theory was correct. Although this is a pretty good album, it doesn't touch "The Prophecy" in quality. I even feel that Nosferatu's "Rise" album put out before "The Prophecy" is better than this album. In other words, their earlier work is better. But this is still a traditional style Nosferatu album. They got a new singer that sounds similar, but not as good as their previous singer. The songs here seem to be a little more generic. They are basic goth rock music without anything that really makes them stand out. The singing and music sounds the same on almost every song. There isn't a lot of diversity to be found here. This is straight forward goth rock music for the most part. Haunting synth harmonies and female background vocals in previous Nosferatu albums gave them a powerful edge. You can't even make out synths in this album. I think that a piano and some light choir sounds appear in the background at times, but that is basically it. This album still delivers some pretty catchy goth rock music that plays at a medium pace. But it's still a bit of a disappointment.

Reviewed by: Darklight Nosferatu's previous album "Rise" was incredible, and this one is even better. It's a lot more polished in every sense. The singing is crisper and more up front. The singer has an incredibly melodic voice, and sings extremely well. The music is created with synths, drums, and guitars. All of these instruments are performed to perfection. They blend together as if they're one. The rhythms and beats are extremely catchy. They instantly pull you into their haunted world. The music switches between slow and melodic to fast paced and aggressive in almost every song. This definitely adds a unique twist to the songs. The singer sings harmonic at times, and then belts out screams to go with the ever changing musical styles. The overall experience is very dark, moody, and haunting. Goth rock just doesn't get any better than this.

Reviewed by: Darklight This band plays along at a medium to fast pace. The music is created with haunting synths, drum beats, and great uses of guitars. The vocals are deep and sing incredibly well. Each song is very melodic and catchy. There isn't a bad song to be found on this album. They change direction often to keep the listener on the edge of their seat. The rhythms and beats will grab you right from the start. The harmonic singing blends perfectly with the music. The synths are very apparent, and female background singers make an appearance every now and again. If you're looking for an incredibly dark, moody, haunting, and trance like experience, this album is for you.
