Rob Zombie is best known as the vocalist for the metal band White Zombie. Now that White Zombie is history, Rob has decided to go it alone as a solo artist. I have to admit that I do like the songs on this album more than anything White Zombie has ever done before. But I also have to admit that these songs do sound a lot like White Zombie. The music delivered here is all heavy guitar rock with industrial touches such as programming and sampling. But as with most commercial industrial rock bands, the guitars, bass and drums take center stage here. The electronics are buried deep in the background. Rob sings in a clean rough growling style that mixes both anger and aggression. But the campy horror theme of th CD keeps anything from sounding seriously angry. There is good variety from song to song. The songs manage to have a lot changes in them that makes everything quite interesting from start to finish. But there's no getting away from the fact that this music is indeed commercial heavy rock that will appeal to fans of other campy rock bands such as Marilyn Manson and Powerman 5000. The bottom line is that this Rob Zombie CD is a quality well produced album that shouldn't be missed by those who like heavy guitar rock music.
