Album: "Aenima"
(1996) |

Reviewed by: Darklight Tool has matured in the last three years. This new album is full of changing emotions. The music is very dark and serious, but includes a mixture of both relaxation and rage. The singer sings melodic, and screams with anger as well. No song is the same from start to finish. They take different twists and turns during their course. They may be relaxed, mellow, and melodic one minute, and extremely thrashy and aggressive the next. Everything compliments each other here. The guitars are greatly used, the drums create catchy beats, the vocals are slightly distorted, and there are some uses of synths. Each song is fairly long, and they all include something that makes them sound different from each other. The lyrics are very well written, and make you pay close attention to what is being said. The production value of this album is very high quality, and the overall sound is extremely polished. If you like dark and moody guitar hard rock music with some industrial touches, this album is a must for you.

Album: "Undertow"
(1993) |

Reviewed by: Darklight This album is pretty drab in my opinion. It's very dark and dreary and plays along at a pretty slow and stale pace. The guitars are heavy, bass guitars funky, drum beats slamming, and the vocals sing melodically with slight anger. Nothing is fast paced or energetic. Each song on this album sounds exactly the same. Also, it sounds as if the music is missing something. It doesn't sound complete. There are empty areas in the rhythms and beats. I feel that synths would have really helped to fill in the gaps. The album is well produced, and is very polished. It does have some moments when it does get interesting. But for the most part it never really gets that exciting. As far as hard rock music goes, this album does have an edge with its very dark, dreary, and serious side. But unfortunately there really isn't anything here that would appeal to industrial music fans.
