This album includes covers of classic Bauhaus songs done by HAMLET MACHINE & SPONGE, #9, MAYUMI CHIWAKI & PILAR STUPA, CHU-YA, SPEED-ID, SCREAMING MAD GEORGE, DEF MASTER, DUMMY, CHEERFUL-BRIAN, KEY PARTY, ZIN, FICTION and GENET. I have never heard of any of these bands/musicians before, but that could be because they are all Japanese. I have to admit that every song here is very well performed. There is a clean and tight polish throughout this album. From start to finish you are treated to quality music. Some tracks lean toward traditional goth rock while others are more aggressive with an industrial kick. So you definitely get quite a lot of variety on this album. There are actually a lot more heavy and aggressive songs than I expected. Most various artists compilation albums that cover goth bands are usually the typical dark and somber mood driven melodic soundscape styles. But this album actually packs songs with a punch. Don't expect the usual soothing darkwave music here. Most of the songs delivered are quite fast paced with a lot of rhythms and beats. There are more electronics used in these songs as well; an aspect that I really enjoyed. If you want some rather fresh and original covers of Bauhaus songs, or just good rocking tunes in general, do yourself a favor and pick this album up. I think you will be quite impressed with it's diversity.
