If you have been wanting to hear your favorite U2 songs covered by various industrial and goth acts, now's your chance. This CD includes covers of the songs: "With Or Without You", "One", "New Year's Day", "Pride", "Even Better Than The Real Thing", "I Will Follow", "All I Want Is You", "Sunday Bloody Sunday", "October", "Numb", "Where The Streets Have No Name", "Desire" and "Discotheque" performed by: HEAVEN 17, INFORMATION SOCIETY, FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY, RAZED IN BLACK, DEAD OR ALIVE, SPAHN RANCH, MISSION UK, ELECTRIC HELLFIRE CLUB, ROSETTA STONE, DIE KRUPPS, SILVERBEAM, BANG TANGO, THE POLECATS and INTRA-VENUS. The majority of these covers are dark electronic versions of the originals. They do a good job of sounding like the U2 originals with a slightly different edge to them. While most of the tracks are good, there are some that I do feel stand out. I especially like "One" performed by INFORMATION SOCIETY, "New Year's Day" performed by FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY, "Even Better Than The Real Thing" performed by DEAD OR ALIVE, "Sunday Bloody Sunday" performed by ELECTRIC HELLFIRE CLUB, "Numb" performed by DIE KRUPPS, "Where The Streets Have No Name" performed by SILVERBEAM and "Discotheque" performed by INTRA-VENUS. There are only a couple of bad tracks to be found here. They are "I Will Follow" performed by SPAHN RANCH and "Desire" performed by THE POLECATS. One of my main complaints with the CD is the track layout. The songs just aren't placed in that good of an order. A different track order would have definitely improved the flow of the CD. But the bottom line is that this is a fairly good compilation of U2 songs being covered by some good industrial and goth bands. If you're interested in hearing some classic U2 songs given an industrial and goth touch, you will enjoy this CD.
